Meeting Information and Technical Program

Enjoy the brilliant autumn colors of Jackson Hole and the Tetons while experiencing the professional and social opportunities provided at the 2005 Rocky Mountain Section meeting in Jackson at the Snow King Resort, September 24 - 26. The technical program includes an environmental forum, a mega-session exploring the ins-and-outs of increasing the supply of natural gas from the Rockies, and five wide-ranging technical sessions. A general poster session provides an informal format in which to display one’s latest work.

Two field trips will take you around the thrust belt and extensional regime near Jackson, or over rocks and ideas about unconventional reservoirs. Following the meeting, two short courses offer the chance to update your skills, and learn about the newest exploration and production technologies and tools.

Jackson Hole, the Teton Range, and Yellowstone offer a wonderful variety of outdoor activities from which to choose. Indeed, September can be one of the best times of the year to visit these treasures, when vistas are no longer packed by the hurried crowds of summer. Whitewater float trips, scenic lake cruises, hiking, and horseback riding are just some of the ways to enjoy the spectacular scenic beauty. Chuck wagon dinners and fine dining provide tastes of both the old and new West, while the National Museum of Wildlife Art offers an unforgettable feast for the eyes.

This RMS-AAPG meeting conveniently follows the ninth annual Wyoming Natural Gas Fair, scheduled at the Snow King Resort on September 21-23. Take in two great meetings in one spectacular locale!
