The August EXPLORER is our Annual Convention issue and so includes some previews and highlights of the upcoming International Meeting for Applied Geoscience and Energy, as well as some fascinating profiles on our two top honorees: Kitty Milliken and Nosa Osmorodian, as well as a look at the top shale oil fields in the United States, and how new seismic interpretation techniques are creating new exploration opportunities in Colombia.

The July EXPLORER is our annual Unconventionals issue and so includes some highlights from the recent Unconventional Resources Technology Conference, including a look at the potential of unconventional reservoirs for carbon sequestration. We also cover ExxonMobil’s plans to double production in the Permian Basin. Our cover story is about the threat posed by Artificial Intelligence of replacing human geologists in the oil field.

In the June EXPLORER, we look into some of the advances in AI and machine learning in making production forecasts, Brazil’s expected growing oil demand as a major component of its national energy transition, as well as some preview of this month’s Unconventional Resources Technology Conference and a recap of the recent historic GeoGulf ’23 gathering in Houston and its tour of NASA, hosted by astronaut-geologist Harrison Schmitt.

In the May EXPLORER, we examine the current jobs outlook in the energy industry. We also report on the world-class hydrocarbon prospects of Alaska’s North Slope, and we take a look at the deepwater analogs of Barbados. The issue also includes some highlights from the recent Energy Opportunities conference in Mexico, and a look at some of the sea monsters of the Sahara Desert.
