The October EXPLORER is our annual Geophysical Review issue, and as such, it’s packed with content about the latest advances in geophysics and how it’s driving exploration and production. Thanks to satellites and supercomputers, there has been a revolution in recent years in offshore exploration owing to advances in geophysics. We also have some highlights from the recent Discovery Thinking forum at IMAGE in which the role of geophysics in major discoveries in Zimbabwe, Suriname, Namibia and Indonesia are discussed. We also take a look at the role of geophysics in driving exploration of the Gulf of Mexico.

The August EXPLORER is our Annual Convention issue and so we take a look at this year’s International Meeting for Applied Geoscience and Energy happening in Houston this month – what’s new, what’s different and some of the presentations and features to look for. We also include profile pieces on our two highest honorees: Kevin Bohacs, this year’s Sidney Powers Memorial Award recipient, and Charles Sternbach, our Michel T. The July EXPLORER is our Geoscience Information and Data issue, and so we take a look at various ongoing efforts to bring “dark data” into the Digital Age, in the United States and abroad. We also have a bit of political analysis of the two presidential frontrunners’ respective records and policy positions on oil and gas. The June EXPLORER is our Unconventional Resources issue and includes some previews of this month’s URTeC gathering in Houston, including a look at were some of the next big plays are development, an broad overview of the future of U.S. energy production, and other highlights. We also take a look at the recently discovered “elephant” in Namibia, and a profile of this year’s AAPG Foundation Teacher of the Year Award honoree.

The May EXPLORER is our Domestic Developments issue and includes some coverage on the current state of the U.S. oil and gas industry, an ongoing research project into geologic hydrogen and the role of ESG in improving the industry’s cultural obstacles. We also include some international coverage – specifically, the IUGS’ recent controversial decision regarding designation of the Anthropocene epoch.

The April EXPLORER is our annual Offshore Developments issue and includes a few previews from the upcoming Offshore Technology Conference, which includes coverage of emerging trends in technology and investment We also take a look at Suriname’s aggressive campaign to ramp up oil production offshore, and we have a profile on Brazil’s famed “Father of the Pre-Salt.” In other news, some prominent voices in the Association debate the proposed Reimagnie plan, in Readers’ Forum and elsewhere. Also, we take a look at the much anticipated Petroleum Reserves and Resources Forum being held by the DPA.
