GTW - Middle East GTW - Middle East Challenges of New Frontier Off-Shore Deep Water Hydrocarbon Basins: Focus on the Levant Basin and East Mediterranean27 May 201329 May 2013
Beirut, Lebanon
The workshop will be opened by plenary sessions that will overview the regional and structural geology of the Levant Basin. The timing of the proposed workshop is appropriate, as the Lebanese offshore licensing round has been announced to start on May 2nd, 2013; by that time exploration might start in five new blocks offshore Cyprus. A more profound understanding of the key elements affecting the prospectivity of the Levant Basin (as a frontier hydrocarbon province) will have wide application across the region and in other similar basins.

miniEvent Basin-Margin Wedge Exploration Plays EAGE/AAPG Workshop 201320 November 201322 November 2013
Lisbon, Portugal

Basin-Margin Wedge Exploration Plays

Inaugural workshop presented jointly by the European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers (EAGE) and the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG).

The first in this new series of workshop events, which will alternate on a yearly basis between Europe and North America.

The aim of the workshop is to promote discussions on the strengths and failings of such a concept and about the risks associated with each component of the petroleum system: charge, reservoir occurrence and quality, vertical and lateral seals and traps. The success probability of such a play will be addressed in each of the geodynamic contexts exhibited on continental margins (passive, compressive and transform).

GTW - Canada GTW - Canada Hydrocarbon Charge Considerations in Liquid-Rich Unconventional Petroleum Systems3 November 20135 November 2013
Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
The focus of this GTW is liquid-rich unconventional petroleum systems. These have become significant worldwide exploration targets. Understanding the hydrocarbon charge system and production capabilities are critical for liquid-rich unconventional plays to be economically successful. Defining which geochemical and geological parameters are keys to success, as well as their associated limits, is needed to better assist the evaluation of new liquid-rich unconventional play opportunities.
