Geoscience students researching energy related theses can count on support from the AAPG Foundation – especially during the down times. Investing in education is a top priority for the Foundation. During the 2016-17 grant cycle, AAPG Foundation will award $269,000 to master’s and doctorate students worldwide.

The mechanism for petroleum accumulation in the Qinghuangdao 29 oil field, Bohai Sea, China, is examined by analyzing the gas and fluid composition and conduit architecture and calculating the intensity of boundary faults in order to better understand petroleum exploration on the Shijiutuo uplift.

Carboniferous volcanic rocks of the Junggar Basin, China, are primarily andesite and tuff. Diagenetic processes that control reservoir quality are examined. The controlling factors for oil distribution in these volcanic rocks are faulting, fracture development, and degree of weathering.

A downturn is a great time to diversify. What is the best way? Give yourself the tools you need, and then combine them with experience and enthusiasm to take you great places in your life and career. Welcome to an interview with Trailukya Borgohain, Chief Geologist for Oil India Limited and loyal AAPG member. Trailukya took advantage of AAPG’s online courses and partnership with Texas A&M University at Texarkana. The MBA in Energy Leadership is available in a 100% online program, and has been ranked among the top 5 online MBA programs in the U.S.
