Africa Region showcases at 2016 IGC

All roads led to the 35th International Geological Congress, IGC, the Olympics of geoscience congresses held from 28 August to 4 September 2016 in Cape Town South Africa. This prestigious geoscience event which featured plenary sessions, technical sessions, short courses and field trips covering aspects of the geosciences from hydrogeology, geohazards, petroleum geoscience and environmental geoscience to medical geoscience amongst several others under the major themes of Geoscience for Society, Geoscience in the Economy and Fundamental Geoscience was held at the Cape Town International Convention Centre in the beautiful city of Cape Town, South Africa. With over 4,500 delegates in attendance, the event was very well attended and amongst the largest of the IGC congresses held so far.

An exhibitor at the event showcasing Africa Region at Booth F21 during the conference, delegates got the chance to interact and network in person with AAPG President Paul Britt & AAPG Executive Director David Curtiss at AAPG exhibition booth and the several networking sessions held during the congress.

AAPG wishes to appreciate the support and contributions of AAPG Africa Region Delegate to South Africa Mr. Kaushal Trivedi & Executive Director of GSSA South Africa, Mr. Craig Smith for successful interactions during this period. The meeting which takes place every four years will be hosted by India in 2020.
