The Student Chapter at Gadjah Mada University, Indonesia has completed a course in February.
The winning team from the Asia Pacific region – the China School of Petroleum in Beijing – was flown to New Orleans to compete against the winners of the other regions.
PGCE2010 is taking place in Kuala Lumpur from 29-30 March this year, and AAPG is taking a booth there.
Mr Rick Fritz, Executive Director, recently travelled to the Asia Pacific region, to meet with the Region President and Council.
Effective September 14, 2009, AAPG engaged Ms. Adrienne Pereira to work with the Association in the Asia Pacific Region as an independent contractor. Adrienne will continue in this capacity while AAPG incorporates as a charitable organization in Singapore. Adrienne brings a wealth of experiences from conference marketing, logistics and management to government protocol and staff development.
The University of Karachi Student Chapter has been honored to get affiliated with AAPG. It is the first student chapter of Pakistan that has been affiliated with AAPG.
On 23 March 2009, KKU (Khon Kaen University, Thailand) Student Chapter had a meeting with Mr. Scott Tinker, AAPG President, and Ms. Carol Cain McGowen, AAPG Section and Region Manager, at PTT Exploration and Production Public Company Limited (PTTEP).
Chuck Caughey and Dharmawan Samsu visited University of Padjadjaran, Jatinangor, Indonesia on 28 Apr 2009.
On last Friday (3April 2009) I visited Sindh University Jamshoro, Pakistan on the invitation of Dr Safraz Solongi, Director of the Center of the Pure and Applied Geology. During this visit I delivered a lecture : ”Career as Petroleum Geoscientist, New in oil Industry, what you need to know. How to prepare yourself ”. This visit was very interesting and meaningful, not only for me but to the students and faculty members as well.
Syed Tariq Hasany visited Kazakhstan British Technical University (KBTU) Almaty, Kazakhstan on 12 February 2009 and Kazakstan National Technical University (KNTU), Almaty, Kazakhstan on 17 February 2009. His visit in KBTU was attended by 50 to 65 students and about 3 faculty members. And his visit in KNTU was attended by 12 students.
