The Asia-Pacific region was represented by Birgita Laksmi of University of Pembangunan Nasional Veteran from Yogyakarta, Indonesia and Kartikeya Singh Sangwan of University of Delhi from Delhi, India at the Global Student Chapter Leadership Summit (GSCLS) and the Annual Convention and Exhibition 2015 held in Denver, Colorado, United States of America.
A joint SPE Thailand Section / SEAPEX / AAPG technical meeting was held in June 2015.
Our Indonesian student chapters recently had a presence booth at the Indonesian Petroleum Association exhibition, held in Jakarta, from 20-22 May 2015.
American Association of Petroleum Geologists Hasanuddin University Student Chapter (AAPG UNHAS SC) presented a “One Day Lecture” on 17th November 2014, by two International speakers, Mr. Peter Baillie (Immediate Past President of AAPG Asia Pacific and President of SEAPEX) and Prof. Sato Tokiyuki (Akita University, Japan).
6 university student chapters in western Indonesia attended a self-organised Leadership Training stint that included seminars and talks, as well as a day of rafting.
Long-time AAPG member John Casey, 88, hailing from Sydney, attended our region’s first-ever GTW in Brisbane on “Opportunities and Advancements in Coal Bed Methane in the Asia Pacific”, held from 12-13 February 2015.
