Dwandari Ralanarko, Past President of the Student Chapter at University of Diponegoro and Cindy Dhevayani Savitri, Past President of the Chapter at University Gadjah Mada, have been invited to attend the AAPG Leadership Days Conference, in Tulsa, USA from 25-29 August 2010.

This inaugural 2-day workshop will examine pore pressure challenges in the petroleum industry, with a particular focus on the Asia Pacific region.

The AAPG Imperial Barrel Award (IBA) is an annual basin/prospect evaluation competition for geoscience graduate students. The Asia Pacific Region can accommodate 12 teams and these will be chosen on a “first-come-first-served” basis amongst those that make a final commitment to the programme.

The AAPG Asia Pacific Region will present a GTW (Geosciences Technology Workshop) in Singapore, 27-29 October 2010. The theme is “Pore Pressure Prediction: Special Focus — Asia Pacific”.

The recipients from our region for 2010 are Justin MacDonald of the University of Adelaide who obtained a grant from the Gordon I. Atwater Memorial Grant and Sam Hemmings-Sykes of the Victoria University of Wellington who received one from the Wallace E Pratt Memorial Grant.

AAPG University of Karachi Student Chapter, in continuation of technical lecture/seminar series, organized another talk on Saturday 17th April 2010, Guest Speaker being the renowned explorationist Mr. Moin Raza Khan, GME, Pakistan Petroleum Limited.

At the recent AAPG Annual Convention in New Orleans, the Asia Pacific team made a presentation at the International Regions Committee meeting.
