Following the very successful Bandung Technical Symposium (13-14 September 2017), several of our AAPG Region members were able to pay visits to the Institute of Technology in Bandung. AAPG Region Vice President Mark Tingay and Region Delegate John Kaldi were there teaching. Bob Shoup, Region Delegate and past-chair of the AAPG House of Delegates, visited the Student Chapter to give the talk '10 Habits of Highly Successful Oil Finders'. The talk was attended by 30 students.

I recently returned from an “International External Examiner” trip to the Universiti Teknologi Petronas in Perak, Malaysia. While there, I gave a Visiting Geoscientist presentation titled ”Geological Applications of Capillary Pressure: Learning to Think Like Hydrocarbon”.

The AAPG Student Chapter of the Department of Applied Geology, Indian School of Mines (ISM), Dhanbad, organized the third Annual Students Meet during 18-20 August 2017. The meet was attended by more than 125 participants from different Universities and colleges of India and also by the students of IIT(ISM) Dhanbad.

At the IEAGHG International CCS Summer School that took place in July 2017 in Sasketchwan, Canada, Ken Prabowo, formerly a student at the Institut Teknologi Bandung (Indonesia), was awarded Most Outstanding Student of the gathering of 42 students from 16 different countries.

Dr Ameed Ghori gave a talk in May 2017 to AAPG Chapter students from Curtin University. The talk was on Petroleum Geochemistry and was well received. Dr Ghori is Senior Geologist | Resources, Geological Survey, Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety in Sydney, Australia. The talk (venue and tea) was sponsored by the Geological Survey of Western Australia.
