Authors are invited to submit abstracts for the 2008 AAPG Annual Convention. The planned oral and poster sessions are listed on back. Abstracts should be 250-275 words long, and cover the objectives, procedures, results and conclusions. The title should be brief and state the topic. Abstract titles should NOT include company names. Please submit your abstract in the form that you wish to see it published, as abstracts will not be edited. Authors will be notified of acceptance or rejection in December 2007.
AAPG has no funding for speakers. Do not submit an abstract unless at least one author is certain to attend the convention. All session chairs, speakers, and poster presenters MUST register to attend the convention. No exceptions will be made!
Authors of accepted abstracts will have the option to submit an extended version of their abstract, which will then be produced on a CD-ROM, available at the convention. Authors are invited to have their work, both oral and poster presentations, published on AAPG’s online Search and Discovery to preserve their work for future reference.
Electronic projection will be the only presentation format available. Speakers will be connected to one electronic data projector, and have access to one screen and a pointer. Slide projectors, overhead projectors, and multiple screens will not be available. The presentation software on the computers will be PowerPoint 2003, Acrobat 7.0, Windows Media Player, and Quick Time for Windows.
Half-day poster sessions are planned for San Antonio. Presenters are required to be in their booths a minimum of two hours while their posters are on display.
Abstracts for all sessions should be submitted online. If you cannot submit your abstract online, please contact Terri Duncan , +1 918 560 2641, tduncan@aapg.org.
Permission for AAPG to publish your abstract is implied when you submit your paper to the 2008 Annual Convention.
NO-SHOW POLICY: The AAPG Executive Committee has ruled that presenters who fail to show up for their scheduled presentations without previously notifying AAPG Headquarters of their cancellation will not be allowed to present papers or posters at any AAPG-sponsored technical meeting for three (3) years following the “no-show.”
Please check www.aapg.org/sanantonio for the most up-to-date list of sessions, as session titles may change throughout the abstract submittal process.
The American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) does not endorse or recommend any products and services that may be cited, used or discussed in AAPG publications or in presentations at events associated with AAPG.
