Purpose

At the request of then President, Robbie Gries and with the concurrence of Betsy Campen, Chairman of Youth Education Activities (YEA) committee, a survey was made of the affiliated societies of the AAPG to determine their involvement with K-12 activities and to use the knowledge obtained from the survey to increase that involvement.

Later, at the suggestion of Don Clarke, Long Beach, CA, a somewhat similar survey, but of a limited nature, was made of the state Geological Surveys to see what material was available for K-12 instruction.
