Benefits
Explorer
The EXPLORER is published monthly in a tabloid newspaper format with a focus on news of interest to the AAPG membership. Contents include coverage of the entire span of energy interest, with emphasis on exploration for hydrocarbons and energy minerals. Breaking news stories, features, profiles of personalities, comment columns and Association information is included. The EXPLORER is distributed to over 30,000 members and friends of the Association in over 114 countries.
Bulletin
The AAPG Bulletin has been delivering quality research to the scientific world since 1917. The first issue contained papers written by the best-known geologists of the day, and included papers on such topics as South America, Europe, and general geologic problems of structure and sedimentation. Delivered digitally or in print monthly to each AAPG Member as a part of membership dues, the AAPG Bulletin is one of the most respected, peer-reviewed technical journals in existence, with recent issues containing papers focused on such topics as the Middle East, channel detection, China, permeability, subseismic fault prediction, the U.S., and Africa.
Career Center
The AAPG Career Center is a benefit to members of the AAPG, and to companies, organizations, and individuals seeking to hire our member geoscientists. Use the confidential resume bank, job search capabilities and Job Alert option to find your dream job.
Education
We think you'll agree with leaders of the world’s largest oil companies. Every year they send their best people and teams to AAPG short courses, schools, and conferences. These companies credit continuing education as necessary “to get the best in upstream training” as part of their career success. Our professors and mentors all draw on actual industry experience to make their teaching more relevant. AAPG emphasizes hands-on experience in addition to formal presentation.
Meetings
As a preeminent international geological organization, the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) is uniquely positioned to attract a focused audience of geoscience professionals. AAPG organizes two meetings for the geoscience community, industry and the AAPG membership. The Annual Convention & Exhibition (ACE) is held in the United States during the first half of the year while the International Conference & Exhibition (ICE) rotates throughout the world's continents in the second half of the year. The technical programs at both ACE and ICE attract industry leaders worldwide for their well-regarded oral and poster presentations. AAPG has more than 34,000 members ranging from geologists and company leaders to students and young professionals. Many of our members have been involved for most of their careers. These meetings are excellent resources for building your career skills, contacts and experience.
