Field Trip to the Natih Formation Source Rocks - Registration Deadline Extended!

Published
American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG)

Registration deadline for workshop field trip is 12 January 2016 - don't miss your chance to explore the Natih Formation Source Rocks.

We will visit the outcrops of the Adam Foothills, located 80 km south of the town of Nizwa (Oman), where the source rock facies of the Natih Formation (Albian-Cenomanian) are exposed. These source rocks were accumulated within intrashelf basins equivalent in age to the Shilaif intrashelf basin in the UAE.

The visited outcrops are located in Jabal Madmar, Jabal Salakh and Jabal Qusaibah, lined-up along a seismic-scale transect from the margin to the center of the ancient intrashelf basin, thus allowing to observe significant facies variations and stratigraphic geometries in a proximal-distal direction.
