The Student member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists attends college and is studying geology or a similar field generally associated with geosciences at a college of acceptable academic standards. Any college student meeting this criteria is eligible for membership in the AAPG and is encouraged to join due to the many benefits an early start in the Association brings to their career.
Students are encouraged to join an AAPG Student Chapter if one is available at their school. The AAPG Student Chapter program is made up of collegiate groups of geoscience students. It is one of the world's foremost co-education programs within the geoscience sector and have close to 300 chapters throughout the world.
An AAPG student chapter provides students the opportunity to develop leadership skills, develop a professional network of colleagues and friends, and serves as a place to meet industry representatives to help the geoscience student hone their interest and focus for their career path.
