The University of Oklahoma's School of Geology and Geophysics hosts the 2018 AAPG Spring Break Student Expo on March 16, on the OU campus in Norman. The event is sponsored by Conoco-Phillips.

The full-day event features short courses lead by OU faculty, alumni and industry experts, opportunities to network with professionals from leading oil and gas companies and poster contests for geology and geophysics categories. The AAPG Spring Break Student Expo is one of the most anticipated events of the year for geoscience students, and this year's expo promises not to disappoint.

A wide variety of short course topics include a hands-on course in "3D Seismic Attributes to Define Structure and Stratigraphy," "From Molecules to Money: The Business Side of the Hydrocarbon Cycle," "Mixed Carbonate-Siliciclastic Sequence Stratigraphy with Application to the Delaware Basin," an "Organic Petrology Seminar" and a course for non-OU students, "Reservoir Characterization and Modeling.".

The networking event gives students the opportunity to meet with representatives from leading industry companies such as ConocoPhillips, Chesapeake Energy, Devon and BP

Students have the opportunity to present and discuss their own work in the Poster Contest. Cash prizes are awarded for the top three entries in geology and geophysics categories. The posters taking first place receive $500 each, second place entries receive $400 each and third place in each category receive $300.

Deadline for registration is Feb. 28. For convenience the registration process provides designated online forms for attendance and different events.
