The purpose of this talk is to provide a forum to discuss the applications of geological modeling in various domains of practice. The presentation is geared towards a general geoscience audience of undergraduates, graduate students, university academicians, and geoscience practitioners at all career levels. The outline will adopt a “who”, “what”, “why”, “when”, and “where” approach to highlight the pivotal role of geologists in geomodeling and where geological modeling is being applied in several industrial sectors. The context of the discussion is intended to be general and high-level, without providing an in-depth review of geological modeling methods and workflows. For relevance, this talk will aim to underscore (where possible) the novel applications or recent developments in geomodeling in the various areas of geoscience practice discussed.
