The Geoscience Exhibition and Competition (GEnC) was the first event to be organized by AAPG Student Chapter of Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (AAPG-UTP-SC). GEnC involved all geology and geosciences students from Malaysia. There were four main events in GEnC, which were Outcrop Description Presentation, Outcrop Display, Geoscience Companies Exhibition and Talk, and Grand Dinner. Through this event, our aim was to enhance the understanding of geosciences in students and to prepare the students to face the challenges that they may encounter in industry. This event was led by our project manager, Ms. Lee Ming Xiang and assistant project manager, Ms. Nadira Wahida, followed by 113 members of committees.

Geoscience Exhibition and Competition (GEnC) 2015 was organized on 8 and 9 July 2015 at Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS in Tronoh, Perak, Malaysia. The response was overwhelming.  There were 135 participants from five IPTA and IPTS consisting of UTP, UM, UMS, UMK and Curtin University Sarawak. Five well-known Geoscience companies were also involved in the exhibitions and talks, namely,Schlumberger, SHELL, LHOIST, JX Nippon and IHS. Exhibition and outcrop display by participants were held on 8 July while outcrop description presentation was held on 9 July. The talks and exhibitions from the five companies took place simultaneously on both days.

Exhibition, outcrop display and outcrop description presentations were the three main categories in the competition. Participants had to decorate and display their posters on their respective booths and showcase their creativity, organization, attractiveness of booth and relevancy of outcrop presented. Eight Judges from UTP, UMS, UMK, Curtin University Sarawak and SHELL were the judges.

Also featured were talks from Schlumberger and JX Nippon, whose speakers shared their knowledge and experience with the students from UTP.

The second day saw presentations from 9 UTP teams. Talks from SHELL, LHOIST and IHS were conducted as well.
