Providing a State of the Art Review of the Contrasted Structural Styles of the Middle East

After a successful first edition in 2017, the Structural Styles of the Middle East GTW is back in the region to continue focusing on the structural evolution of the Middle East geological provinces as well as on the main structural styles characterizing these provinces.

Presenters from IFPEN, OMV, PDO, Saudi Aramco, Shell, Total, and many more are set to discuss this important and exciting topic.

The technical program will feature the following sessions:

  • Session 1: Structurally Influenced Traps, Source Rocks, Reservoirs, and Seals
  • Session 2: Precambrian Basement Patterns and the Palaeozoic Tectonic Evolution
  • Session 3: Salt Tectonics in the Middle East
  • Session 4: Tectonic Evolution of the Meso-Cenozoic
  • Session 5: Open Session
Available Field Trips

Attendees will have a unique opportunity to join one of the two full-day field trips scheduled for 12 December 2019. Explore the Jabal Akhdar Dome in the Oman mountains accompanied by our field trip leader Andreas Scharf, (SQU) or sign up for the Rusayl Embayment field trip led by Frank Mattern (SQU).
