Brian Jones is a Distinguished University Professor at the University of Alberta where he been a faulty member for 38 years. His research has focused on carbonate rocks of all ages in many parts of the world, including the Silurian and Devonian strata of Arctic Canada, Devonian strata in the Hay River area, and other parts of the Northwest Territories, Cenozoic carbonates of the Cayman Islands, and Precambrian dolostones of China. This research, which includes all aspects of the stratigraphy, paleontology, and sedimentology of the sequences, has been widely published in many different journals. He is currently one of the Editors-in-Chief for Sedimentary Geology.
