Bhaskar Sarmdah is a Technical Advisor, Petrophysics for South East Tech Team under Halliburton, based at Houston, TX. He joined Halliburton in Saudi Arabia as a Sr. Log Analyst in 2007. In 2010, Bhaskar started the FRS operation in Pittsburgh, PA. In July, 2014 he moved to the SE tech team in Houston. Prior to Halliburton he worked in the field as well-site geologist, mud-logging data engineer for ten years, mostly in the Middle East and North Africa. His formation evaluation experience ranges from the Darcy Carbonates of Ghawar basin to the nano Darcy organic rich resources of Marcellus, Utica Point Pleasant, Eagle Ford, Haynesville etc. Bhaskar has wide experience in both open hole as well as cased-hole formation evaluation apart from his well site geology experience. Under the Tech team banner Bhaskar is involved in project based works which includes formation evaluation of the organic rich resources like, Eagle Ford, Wood Bine, Haynesville etc. and some tight gas sand plays like Cotton Valley as well as some stacked tight Carbonates in the region. Bhaskar is also actively involved in designing engineered completion design for horizontal well bore for different unconventional resources. As a part of his daily workflow, Bhaskar works closely with different client, FRS as well as the wireline team in custom designing solution based logging program targeting challenges offered by different resources in the region. Bhaskar occasionally caters to international client on acquainting the with different Halliburton formation evaluation solution offerings, as and when needed.

Bhaskar has a Master’s degree in Applied Geology from IIT Roorkee and PhD in Geology from Guwahati University, India. He is a member of AAPG, SPE, SPWLA.
