Advancing the understanding and pursuit of rare earth elements.
The Energy Minerals Division(EMD) aims to serve AAPG’s membership through advancing economic geology as it relates to nuclear and carbon minerals, geothermal energy, unconventional hydrocarbons, and renewable energy. Founded in 1977, EMD acts as an international forum for professionals working in the exploration, development, and production of energy sources other than conventional oil and natural gas.
What we do
EMD members organize and support AAPG meetings, events, webinars, symposia, workshops, short courses, and field trips. The EMD develops special sessions and short courses at IMAGE, ICE, and other major meetings. The EMD’s thoughts and findings are regularly published in the AAPG Bulletin, AAPG EXPLORER, and EMD memoirs and special publications.
