Membership Types

Full Membership

Full Membership is exclusive to those who have a bachelor's degree (minimum) in the geological sciences, plus at least one year of industry or teaching experience in geoscience. As a Full Member in AAPG, you have exclusive access to join any of AAPG’s divisions and receive certification from the Division of Professional Affairs.

Additionally, you’ll be invited to vote in elections that decide the organization’s executive leadership team and are eligible to run for leadership positions too. You’ll receive special discounts to events, a subscription to Explorer Magazine (available digitally and in print), and access to AAPG’s entire directory of members—keeping you connected to your peers all around the world.

Associate Membership

Associate Membership is open to anyone with a bachelor’s degree who is interested in energy geoscience. As an associate member, you’ll enjoy all the benefits that AAPG has to offer, except for voting in elections and running/serving in positions of leadership. This is the best option for anyone who isn’t a student but doesn’t yet qualify for Full Membership.

The cost for Associate Membership in AAPG is USD $125 a year.

Student Membership

Student Membership is open to all undergraduate and graduate students who are actively pursuing a degree in geology or a related field. Student members receive access to learning opportunities and can join the Energy Minerals Division and the Division of Environmental Geosciences. As a student member, you’ll also have the opportunity to join a local student chapter and participate in student programs—making you a standout to future employers!
