Together with EAGE, AAPG organised our 4th Oil & Gas Conference in Yangon, presented together with our affliated society, the Myanmar Geosciences Society. Held from 13-15 November 2018, this event drew support sponsors Woodside, Total, PTTEP, Chevron, Shearwater, Posco Daewoo, Saudi Aramco, CGG, Schlumberger and RISC. The program kicked off with addresses by Dr Sone Han, Vice Chairman of Myanmar Geosciences Society and U Zaw Aung, Director General for Ministry of Electricity and Energy, Myanmar.

The technical program saw keynote addresses from Romaric Roignan, General Manager, Total Myanmar, Tony Almond, Exploration Advisor - Myanmar Exploration, Woodside Australia, Poulomi Sen, Technical Consultant to the Director General of Hydrocarbons, India; Piya Sukhumpanumet, General Manager, PTTEP Thailand. These talks were followed by a strong line-up of 50 technical oral presentations; while a total of 15 static technical posters were displayed.

An interesting Panel Session was held, featuring Dr Day Wa Aung, Head, Yangon University Myanmar, U Ko Ko,Technical Manager, MPRL Myanmar, Tony Almond, Exploration Advisor, Myanmar Exploration, Woodside Australia; U Nyan Tun, Director of Exploration and Development, MOGE, Myanmar; Romaric Roignan, General Manager ,Total E&P Asia Pacific, Myanmar, Syahir Lufthi Chan, Country Manager, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia, Schlumberger Myanmar. The session was moderated by Conference Convenor Peter Grant of International Energy Solutions Australia and Technical Program Director Dr Paul Thompson,APC Region Exploration Manager, Total E&P Asia Pacific Pte Ltd, Singapore.

MPRL Myanmar offered an award to the best presenter from a Myanmar university; this was won by Dr Sandy Chit Ko of Sittwe University, Myanmar.

The event welcomed more than 180 delegates. We are looking forward to our 5th edition. Thank you to MOEE and MOGE Myanmar for their endorsement of this technical event.
