Geothermal energy is gaining momentum as a reliable source of low-carbon power. With the world watching to see whether the U.S. can replicate the commercial success of the shale revolution, the challenge is clear: turn innovation into sustained well productivity, stronger economics, and scalable commercial deployment.
Join AAPG with leaders from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and SLB for a webinar that will explore how geothermal energy is advancing from research and demonstration toward commercial deployment at scale. Lauren Boyd, Head of Geothermal at the DOE, will discuss the goals and priorities of the Office of Geothermal, recent research advances and successes, the impact of FORGE, and the technical focus areas of the Geothermal Center of Excellence. Boyd will also highlight recent funding awards and opportunities for companies to align their technologies and projects with DOE’s priorities.
From the industry perspective, SLB’s VP of Geothermal, Gino Thielens, will share how technology development and collaboration with FORGE are helping address key technical challenges, improve well performance, and unlock new growth opportunities for geothermal energy.
Moderated by AAPG’s commercial director, Shangyou Nie, this webinar will address what still needs to happen to commercialize geothermal, how companies can contribute, how federal initiatives can advance deployment, and the talent the industry needs to scale.
