The whole world is looking into the upside potential for unconventional oil and gas. However, the regional challenges are varying by region and not clear or being tested, the technologies gaining money in North America may not work for other regions, such as Asia Pacific. In other hands, in the regions in Asia Pacific, new outstanding technologies earning money or successful practices of integrated geoscience and engineering were not advertised well to the industry in North America. This special invited session aims to advertise the emerging regions coupled with regional focus as unconventional geology, geochemistry, hydraulic fracturing, enhanced oil recovery, economics and politics that may not be a macro/global level, and show how the unconventional resources are developing in Asia Pacific.

This session will give 8 presentations of regional characteristics and success from a global perspective, including, 6 talks (see the below acceptance of invited talks) with focus on unconventional resources in China; 1 talk specific to the development of unconventional oil in Russia (the speaker are still inviting, not determined yet); 1 talk with another focus on Australian unconventional oil and gas development (the speaker are still inviting, not determined yet).

We believe that this invited special session will attract not only the attention of local attendees but also more involvement of international professionals and industry pioneers.
