URTeC SC-14 | Geomechanics of Reservoir Stimulation by Hydraulic Fracturing
American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG)
Sunday, 19 July 2020, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. | Austin, Texas
Who Should Attend
This course is designed for geomechanical and petroleum engineers, geoscientists, and managers interested in learning more about numerical simulation of hydraulic fracturing.
Objectives
Present different methodologies to analyze and design reservoir stimulation by hydraulic fracturing with emphasis on numerical modeling.
Course Content
The workshop objective is to discuss the main challenges of stimulation design and how modeling tools can be used to aid the design. The thermo-hydro-mechanical processes taking place during reservoir or rock mass stimulation by fluid injection will be discussed. State-of-the-art analytical tools and their application on projects for different industries will be presented and discussed. Finally, a quick introduction to the use of some of the numerical software will be provided.
