Sequence Stratigraphic models for sediment routing into deepwater basins have come a long way since AAPG Memoir 26. Although we now have a large collection of sequence stratigraphic models and a plethora of terminology, most lack utility as a prediction tool for reservoir presence. In this talk we will revisit paradigms that many have held onto but make little geological sense. We will also look at lesser-known but powerful predictive stratigraphic models that can be used to predict the distribution and quality of deepwater sandstones.
