Applying Fundamentals "101" of Unconventional Shale Production to the Exploration and Development of the Wolfcamp "A", Wolfcamp "B", and Lower Spraberry Shale – A Case Study. Presented by Keith Skaar at AAPG/DPA Playmaker Forum in Midland, Texas on 14 January, 2015.
This presentation
provides a brief review of the fundamentals of hydrocarbon production from unconventional reservoirs; i.e., how does a shale
produce with no conventional permeability(?). We will also review the three factors of rock mechanics necessary for commercial production in
unconventional reservoirs using a recent 20,000 acre case study to identify a reservoir target for exploration and development.
