In 2009 university teams from all over the world will once again compete in local Section or Region IBA competitions for the opportunity to attend the June AAPG Annual Convention and Exhibition in Denver – all travel and lodging expenses paid – where they will participate in the global IBA finals competition.
A team of five graduate students representing the School of Geology and Geophysics at University of Oklahoma rose to the top level and won first place in the second annual IBA competition – but the 2008 AAPG Imperial Barrel Award program produced winners on all levels.
Twelve university teams from around the world competed in the finals of AAPG’s Imperial Barrel Award program at the AAPG Annual Convention and Exhibition in San Antonio.
Congratulation to The University of Indonesia (UI) for winning the AAPG Imperial Barrel Award (IBA) Competition for Asia Pacific Region and is therefore invited to come to AAPG Annual Conference in SAN ANTONIO on April 17-19 for the final process competing with other winning teams from Europe, America, and Africa. A record-setting number of more than 230 ambitious, fired-up university students from both the United States and overseas assembled at the confab, seeking a future in the oil and gas industry.
The international chapter, Escuela Superior Politecnica del Litoral, was added in August, bringing the Student Chapter total to 160 (80 domestic, 80 international).
