Geoscientists have more opportunities than ever to make working with drones and drone data part of their skill set and services rendered. But, there are often a number of misconceptions, especially when getting started. Welcome to an interview with Michael Nash, who provides a reality check about drones and drone capabilities. Please note that the drones references are the small drones used by the general public, and are not the large UAVs used by the military and other entities.

A great opportunity for new energy professionals. The registrants will learn the why’s and how’s of making investment decisions, i.e., whether and which projects to fund, in an oil and gas company. Fundamentals of petroleum economics are key to understanding how to prepare a project proposal, draft an Authorization for Expenditure request and understand how management makes the funding decisions that it does.

Where is the oil? How much is there? and What is the best strategy for recovery? These are a few of the questions that we'll answer at the Making Money with Mature Fields - Geosciences Technology Workshop, October 5-6, 2016, Houston, TX. The goal of this workshop is to review mature fields and to identify the amount and nature of oil that can be recovered, and to evaluate competing strategies for economically producing the remaining reserves. In addition to looking closely at fields, we will review new and improved technologies that may help revitalize reservoirs and overcome problems such as low pressure, paraffin, corrosion, and more.

As part of the international effort to combat global warming, significant attention is being given to ways to sequester (store for the long-term) carbon dioxide, which is a major contributor to the greenhouse effect. This one-day course will look at some of the ways in which carbon dioxide can be stored and provide a detailed review of the SRMS framework prepared by the Society of Petroleum Engineers to classify and categorize the storage volumes.
