  • The Deana and Paul Strunk Military Program awarded $5,000 each to three students. (See September EXPLORER.)
  • The global final level of the Imperial Barrel Award, an international event. This year’s top three teams, from first to third, respectively: King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, and the Universidad Central Del Ecuador and Industrial University of Santander.
  • The Teacher of the Year program awarded Shannon Chatwin with $6,000 ($3,000 for her, and $3,000 for her school under her guidance) and a crystal award. (See July EXPLORER.)
  • The Inspirational Geoscience Educator Award program awarded Davide Oppo with $6,000 and a crystal award. (See July EXPLORER.)
  • The 2023-24 Distinguished Lecture program was launched with seven lecturers, including this year’s AAPG/SEG Distinguished Lecturer. (See October EXPLORER.)

Our heartfelt thanks, to all of the volunteer AAPG members who worked on these programs; to Susie Nolen, the AAPG Programs team lead, and her team for overseeing and ensuring our program quality; and, most especially, all of you who continue to support geoscience excellence with your gifts to the AAPG Foundation.

We couldn’t do it without you!
