Case Study: Los Angeles Basin

Published
American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG)

Just because that field is mature doesn’t mean it’s out of gas/oil! A case in point is the Los Angeles Basin, a prolific producer in its day, and now in need of new technologies and geological evaluation to determine just how to recover the oil that had been left behind. Don Clarke will present a case study on the L.A. Basin and will discuss how new imaging / geological assessment techniques, coupled with low-impact drilling, enhanced oil recovery, and other methods led to success.

AAPG will hold a 1-hour E-Symposium on Evaluating Mature Fields: Best Approaches for Recovering Remaining Reserves on October 21 at 2:00 p.m. Central time. This e-symposium covers how to conduct an interdisciplinary evaluation of mature fields to determine the best approach to recover remaining reserves. Registration is $75 for AAPG members, $95 for non-members. Expanded packages for CEU credit are also available for additional charge. Ask about our special Student pricing!
