Geothermal Technologies Program's Open Funding Opportunity Announcement: Geothermal Energy Production from Non-Conventional Geothermal Resources

Published
American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG)

If you’re interested in considering co-producing geothermal fluids from a producing, marginal, or depleted oil and gas well, there may be support for you. The U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Geothermal Technologies Program (GTP) has released a Funding Opportunity Announcement that seeks innovative demonstration of energy production from non-conventional geothermal resources in the following topic areas, which include geothermal fluids from oil and gas production:

  • Low-Temperature Geothermal Fluids at temperatures up to 300°F
  • Geothermal Fluids Co-produced from productive, unproductive, or marginal oil and/or gas wells; other hydrocarbon production; or mineral recovery/mining operations
  • Geopressured Resources that show potential for economic recovery of heat, kinetic energy, and gas.

It is open through July 9th.
