Welcome to an interview with Don Herman, Cordax, who discusses a new method for logging horizontal wells and for collecting more information useful for designing completion and stimulation programs.

What is your name and your background?

Don Herman, US Sales for Cordax. I have been in industry 37 years. Schlumberger, Venture Capital, ThruBit and now Cordax.

What is your product and/or your process?

Cordax provides Logging While Tripping services. Open hole logging inside of drillpipe for lateral, deviated and vertical wells.

How is your product or process innovative, even potentially game-changing?

Only provider f this technology. Allows operators the ability to log every well, safely and cost effectively.

What made you recognize that there was a need for the product or process?

The industry went from logging 100% of vertical wells to less than 2% of laterals. Because of cost and risk.

Please describe an early example of implementation or product development.

Cordax technology commercialized in 2011. We have done more than 1000 deployments of logging while tripping.

Please describe a more recent example of implementation or product development.

In addition to acquiring open hole log data, we have introduced our ZoneTuner completion optimization software. This allows operators to improve frac efficiency as well as have more clusters contributing – increasing production.

What were some of the lessons learned?

That you can cost effectively increase production and decrease completion costs.

What are your next steps and short-term goals?

What do you want to do next with the product or process? We are on a nice growth ramp. Our goal is to increase the number of clients using our service.

What are your long-term goals?

Log every lateral well.

Please recommend a few books that you found inspiring.

Sorry – have not had much time to read ☹

What did you find valuable about U-Pitch?

It was helpful in concentrating our message and allowed us to increase our network. My U-Pitch presentation is on our website, www.cordax.com
