What to Expect from the AAPG/EAGE Virtual Experience:

Due to the ongoing travel restrictions and differing guidelines from companies and organizations, the AAPG/EAGE Siliciclastic Reservoirs of the Middle East GTW took place virtually from 5 – 9 December April 2021 and is now available on-demand anytime, from anywhere, and from any device until 9 February 2022.

Benefits of our virtual events:
  • Easily view the live presentations, ask questions and chat with other attendees
  • Easily access the technical program and details of each presentation
  • View the profiles of each presenter
  • Participate in breakout discussion sessions
  • Networking with other attendees and schedule one on one meetings
  • Access to all the presentations for up to 2 months after the workshop
  • Access to a dedicated sponsorship page
  • Digital delegate bag and certificate of attendance

The Middle East has long been known for hosting abundant hydrocarbon reserves in carbonate and siliciclastic reservoirs. Despite that a huge portion of the Middle East's proven hydrocarbon reserves are within siliciclastic reservoirs, there is still a vast knowledge-gap when it comes to the regional understanding of these important stratigraphic units. For many decades, these siliciclastic reservoirs have always been viewed in local scale, limiting any attempt for developing a better understanding of the geological factors controlling the development of these reservoirs or how their reservoir characteristics vary geographically.

Achieving a better knowledge of the Middle East siliciclastic reservoirs cannot be achieved without linking and gathering industry experts with academic researchers who share an interest in siliciclastic reservoir characterization and geomodelling.

The Fourth AAPG/EAGE Siliciclastic Reservoirs of the Middle East Workshop provides a unique opportunity for industry experts and academic researchers to share their findings on any subjects related to the reservoir characteristics and geomodelling of the Middle Eastern siliciclastic reservoirs or other areas across the globe that could serve as analog to the Middle Eastern reservoirs, including but not limited to:

  • Outcrop and Subsurface Sedimentology and Stratigraphy
  • Petrography and Diagenesis
  • Petrophysics
  • Biostratigraphy and Paleoclimate
  • Geomechanics
  • Reservoir Geophysics
  • Reservoir Modelling

This five day workshop will feature oral and e-poster presentations, breakout sessions and keynotes from the leading experts in industry and academia.

Workshop Objectives

The workshop is an opportunity for attendees to receive up to date knowledge about clastic reservoir characterization, exposure to regional case studies and be introduced to innovative technologies utilized to explore and develop these important reservoirs. It provides a chance to network and to share experiences between different subsurface disciplines, service providers and operators. All participants will receive a digital summary of the breakout sessions and discussions, and the abstracts presented at the workshop.

Who Should Attend

Geologists, geophysicists, petrophysicists, petroleum technologists, reservoir engineers and managers working in the exploration, appraisal and development of siliciclastic hydrocarbon reservoirs.
