For the first time in the Middle East region, AAPG is hosting a Geosciences Technology Workshop (GTW) dedicated to the Shuaiba Formation. This exciting and innovative event will take place at the Westin Abu Dhabi Golf Resort & Spa on 6–7 April 2020 and will feature a compelling lineup of technical speakers and poster presenters.
On 28 October, the geoscience community gathered to initiate an inspiring third edition of the Siliciclastic Reservoirs of the Middle East workshop. The event was, once again, a great success, and we hope all those who participated enjoyed it as much as we did.
The AAPG Low Resistivity Pay GTW took place from 7-8 October 2019 at the Sundus Rotana Hotel, Muscat, Oman. The workshop attracted 76 attendees from 20 different companies and 9 different countries.

The AAPG Easten Mediterranean Mega-Basin: New Data, New Ideas and New Opportunities GTW took place on 6 – 7 September 2019 at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Alexandria, Egypt. We received 77 attendees from 36 different companies and 13 different countries.
After a successful first edition in 2017, the Structural Styles of the Middle East GTW is back in the region to continue focusing on the structural evolution of the Middle East geological provinces as well as on the main structural styles characterizing these provinces.
The Siliciclastic Reservoirs of the Middle East GTW is now offering two optional field trips designed for attendees to learn more about the geology in the Muscat area. Discover the Al Khawd Formation on the 27th October or sign up for the Cambrian-Ordovician Amdeh Formation Field Trip taking place on the 31st October.
This technical workshop will be dedicated to sharing knowledge, experience and formation evaluation pertaining to low-resistivity and low-resistivity-contrast pay. This event is essentially an attempt to bring the global talent to the table to exchange expertise gained over the years from fields located in different regions and divergent geological setups, on manifestation and causes of low-resistivity and low-resistivity-contrast pay locally and also experience in dealing with the complexity of the formation evaluation through new tool technology and algorithms. You can now register for this innovative workshop taking place on 7-9 October 2019 in Muscat, Oman. The workshop will be 2.5 days, consisting of oral presentations, poster presentations and breakout sessions where participants will be able to discuss and investigate a specific theme that is of mutual interest.
With the increasing demand on hydrocarbons and the de-creased number and volumes of discoveries, there is a great necessity to find new exploration concepts. Over three days, the Integrated Emerging Exploration Concepts: Challenges, Future Trends and Opportunities workshop will emphasize the importance of identifying new thinking and approaches to develop exploration concepts.
Rift Basin Exploration 17-19 June 2019 | Bahrain This three-day workshop will be dedicated to sharing knowledge, ideas, and workflows pertaining to exploration in rift basins. The event will emphasize case studies involving different play types structural and stratigraphic in carbonates and clastics reservoirs — in order to help focus explorationists in their search for these types of basins.
