This year’s International Barrel Award finals took place in Denver, USA at the AAPG 2016 Annual Convention and Exhibition. The finals saw 12 teams of students from all over the world come together to compete for the coveted title.

SEG/AAPG Mesozoic Intrashelf Basins of the Middle East Workshop took place in Dubai from the 11–13 March 2015 at Grosvenor House, Dubai UAE. The workshop was attended by 43 participants from seven different countries.

AAPG’s Siliciclastic Reservoirs of the Middle East GTW took place from the 23rd – 25th March, 2015 at the Jumeirah Messilah Beach Hotel and Spa in Kuwait City, Kuwait. 102 industry professionals from 6 countries attended the workshop to network with peers and colleagues and learn about the industry’s geosciences. 15 presentations took place across the 2 days, representing a combination of 9 different companies and academic institutions.

The Young Professionals & Students (YPS) Summit is an AAPG organized event which aims to enhance the transfer of knowledge between young individuals engaged within the industry. It provides a valuable opportunity for students and young professionals to build communication and leadership skills, while networking with fellow geoscientists from across the region.

AAPG's Imperial Barrel Award (IBA) Program is an annual prospective basin evaluation contest for geoscience students from universities around the globe. The participants analyze geological, geophysical, land, economic and production data in a real world scenario. The IBA regional and section competition winners qualify to compete against each other in the international finals during the Annual Convention & Exhibition (ACE), taking place in the USA, for a chance to win scholarship funds for their school.
