The Siliciclastic Reservoirs of the Middle East GTW is now offering two optional field trips designed for attendees to learn more about the geology in the Muscat area.

Discover the Al Khawd Formation on the 27th October or sign up for the Cambrian-Ordovician Amdeh Formation Field Trip taking place on the 31st October.

The Al Khawd Formation is a siliciclastic deposit of the late Cretaceous age exposed in the Muscat area. This formation unconformably overlies a spectacular ophiolite succession, which includes deep-oceanic sediments, intrusives and volcanics. Learn all about it by signing up today. The field trip will be led by Husam Al Rawahi and Abdulrahman Al Harthy, PDO.

The Cambrian-Ordovician Amdeh Formation is the outcrop equivalent of the subsurface Haima Supergroup, which includes the most prolific gas reservoirs and several of the major oil reservoirs of the Sultanate of Oman. Don’t miss out on this exciting field trip led by Jamie Moss and Gareth Hughes, PDO.

Please note that in order to attend the field trips you need to be registered for the workshop. Seats are limited based on first-come, first-served basis. For more information about the itineraries, fees and to register, please click here.
