The AAPG Latin America & Caribbean Region and the Colombian Association of Petroleum Geologists and Geophysicists (ACGGP) invite you join us for GTW Colombia 2020, a specialized workshop bringing leading scientists and industry practitioners to share best practices, exchange ideas and explore opportunities for future collaboration.

The 2-day workshop brings together technical experts and industry leaders from Colombia and throughout the Americas to take a multidisciplinary look at future opportunities for exploration and development of Southern Caribbean Frontier Basins.

The first AAPG workshop held in Barranquilla, GTW Colombia 2020 offers participants the opportunity to experience Colombian coastal culture in a city positioning itself to be the Caribbean’s premier offshore destination.

The 2-day workshop brings together technical experts and industry leaders from Colombia and throughout the Americas to take a multidisciplinary look at future opportunities for exploration and development of Southern Caribbean Frontier Basins.

The program features a series of expert presentations followed by roundtable discussions relating to the following themes:

  • Tectonic Setting and Petroleum Systems
  • Recent Discoveries and New Plays
  • Enhanced Imaging and AVO/DHI
  • Risk Reduction and Drilling Optimization

The workshop also includes two special sessions:

  • Government Strategies to Develop Colombia’s Energy Sector
  • Opportunities and Challenges for the Development Unconventional Resources in Colombia

GTW Colombia also features a poster session, Tools & Technology to Optimize Exploration and Production. Posters will be on display throughout the workshop, so presenters will have multiple activities to showcase their work and interact one-on-one with participants.

The AAPG and ACGGP invite you support GTW Colombia 2020, a specialized workshop bringing leading scientists and industry practitioners to share best practices, exchange ideas and explore opportunities for future collaboration.

About Barranquilla

Barranquilla is a vivid, cosmopolitan and industrial city located in the northern Caribbean Coast region of Colombia. Barranquilla is the largest city and port in this region, and it is also Colombia's fourth most populous city (population approx. 2 million) after Bogotá, Medellín and Cali.

Located at the intersection of the Magdalena River and meets the Caribbean Sea, the city enjoys both river and sea cultures, as well as a warm weather all year long.

Barranquilla is known as the Golden Gate of Colombia because in the late nineteenth century it served as an entrance into the country for both passengers and goods.
