The 2023 AAPG Student and Young Professional (YP) Chapter Leadership Summit will be held in Mexico City, Mexico from March 24 to 26 and will convene students and young professionals Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Nigeria, Peru, Spain, Saudi Arabia, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, the United Kingdom the United States and Venezuela.

Held annually since 2013, the Latin America and Caribbean AAPG Student and Young Professional (YP) Chapter Leadership Summit has brought students and young professionals from throughout the region to a single location to learn best practices, share experiences and develop leadership and teamwork skills. In 2022, the Summit expanded to include representatives from YP chapters in AAPG’s International Regions and United States sections.

The Summit represents an important step toward creating a strong geoscience student and young professional leader network which benefits geoscience programs and companies throughout the Americas and provides our ever- evolving industry with a cadre of well-equipped future leaders. The 3-day experience provides a lasting impact, not only on participants but also to the chapters they represent.

Pricing

The LACR Leadership Summit is an invitation-only event. Participants are selected through a competitive application process and evaluation by third party professional judges.

Thanks to the generous support of corporate sponsors and professional associations, Summit participants can attend the event free of charge.
Individuals who have been invited to attend or speak at the Summit should register for the event using the Register Online button located on the website.

 

The AAPG Student and Young Professional (YP) Chapter Leadership Summit includes a series of oral presentations, discussions and activities related to the following themes:

  • Leadership, teamwork, and communications skills
  • Best practices for chapter development
  • Soft skills and personal development
  • Networking  with senior professionals representing industry, academia and geoscience associations
  • Full-day professional development session and personality assessments delivered by professional coaches
