Secure energy supply and immediate energy availability are key subjects for peaceful and sustainable growth in developed countries and in particular in Europe. In this framework geosciences play an essential role and they are fundamental to sustain and plan future economic and social developments.

In Europe energy can be further developed and implemented using fossil fuels and renewable energy sources. The experience and knowledge of geoscientists in Europe are keys for the development of existing sources of energy and exploring new frontiers and new sources.

The main aim of this AAPG GTW is to bring together professionals working in industry and in academia to share experiences, present day work and future visions related to all geo-subjects involving exploration and development of energy sources in the subsurface.

Topics to be addresses during this workshop:

  • Redevelopment of O&G fields
  • New Exploration Plays and areas
  • Revisit the potentials of Mature Basins,
  • EOR techniques & case studies,
  • Clastic sequences & reservoirs
  • Carbonate sequences & reservoirs
  • Unconventional and Fractured reservoirs
  • Geothermal energy potentials around Europe
  • Surface and Subsurface analogues for future energy exploration
  • CCS & Hydrogen Storage existing projects and future developments
