The Oil and Gas Authority (OGA) is the independent regulator of the UK's upstream oil and gas sector with a three-fold purpose: to regulate, influence and promote the UK oil and gas industry in order to maximise the economic recovery of the UK’s oil and gas resources (MER UK) whilst supporting the move to net zero carbon by 2050.

The presentation will describe how the OGA supports the exploration of subsurface opportunities within the UK, and is taking strides to enhance investment and improve subsurface success through actions on licensing, data, prospect/store inventories, geophysical data acquisition and regional play evaluations. The presentation will also describe how the OGA is working with government and industry on the vital role that the oil and gas industry must play in the UK energy transition.
