Meet the AAPG-Europe Young Professionals

    David graduated with a degree in Geophysics from the University of Southampton and an Mres in Geophysics from Royal Holloway University London. He has 9 years’ experience in rock physics and seismic analysis, with companies including EGS International, TGS and Ikon Science. David has worked on designing and interpreting seismic surveys and developing hydrocarbon exploration projects around the globe. He is currently a geophysicist with Radioactive Waste Management, where he works on the design, processing and analysis of geophysical data and supports the Site Characterisation team in siting a nuclear waste geological disposal facility.

    David initially joined the AAPG in 2014 whilst undertaking a secondment in Perth Australia. Since then he has acted as London AAPGyp President, organizing and developing networking, career and technical events in and around London. As the current president for the AAPG Europe Young Professionals David works to enable and support AAPG members across the Europe region.

    Stephanie Herrington is currently working as a Geologist for Total in France and has previous industry experience in both exploration and geothermal. She graduated from Heriot-Watt University with a MSc in Petroleum Geosciences. While she started her Undergraduate degree in Biology an optional Earth Sciences course unveiled her true passion and led her to a degree/career change. Having been brought up in Nigeria it enabled her interest for the O&G domain.

    Stephanie recently became a committee member of the AAPG YP London section, and is currently the France representative. In the long run, she will be setting up a France YP section, allowing to bring together geoscientist from different backgrounds and therefore promoting and supporting young professionals in their journey through the energy transition.

    Erol Nadir is a geologist at an international E&P consulting firm based in Moscow. During his bachelor’s degree, he was elected as a President of the Kingston University Geology Society (2015-2017), and volunteered as a course representative. Erol continued his education at the University of Manchester where he graduated with an MSc degree in Petroleum Geoscience. Whilst doing his MSc course he participated in the AAPG Imperial Barrel Award representing his university.

    Erol became a member of the AAPG as an undergraduate but it wasn’t until he joined the London AAPG YP committee as organization’s representative in Russia that he became actively involved with the society. He is working towards promoting the AAPG in the Caspian region among students and young professionals.

    Erol is also interested in using Python and Machine Learning in well log and seismic analysis. His other hobbies include history, politics, philosophy, drums and chess.

    Irma holds a BSc in Geology and Earth Sciences, and a MSc in Petroleum Geoscience from Heriot-Watt University. She started her career in the oil and gas industry at Energean Plc, as a Junior Geologist, and currently works at Prospex Energy Plc as Business Development Geoscientist, based in London. Irma joined the AAPG YP London Chapter in 2019, organising Careers Events for young professionals and students on career development and networking. In late 2020, she was elected President of the AAPG YP London. Irma is passionate about building a sustainable young professional community. The London team promotes new ideas and embraces the energy transition. We host events for students and young professionals to expand their technical and soft skills, to aid their career development and to grow their network within the energy industry.
