Deep and Ultra-deep Petroleum Systems: What we know and don't know

26-28 October 2018
  |
Beijing, China

The global oil and gas industry is currently exploring new frontiers including unconventional resources, deep water offshore and deep to ultra-deep strata onshore. These represent a strategic shift in hydrocarbon exploration.

The goal of this Geoscience Technology Workshop is to provide a forum for the discussion of all aspects of the new deep frontiers. We will explore deepwater exploration systems (turbidites, etc.), deepwater offshore discoveries (including all depositional systems), and deep and ultra-deep strata onshore.

The workshop welcomes examples of plays throughout the world, and will also present new research as well as case studies and new technologies.

In the past decade, a significant breakthrough has been made in China and elsewhere in the area of exploring deeply buried reservoir plays. There are a number of giant discoveries in deep strata in excess of 8000 m in western China with commercial liquid hydrocarbons being found in depth of over 7600 m in the Tarim Basin. Advancement has also been made in the hydrocarbon behaviors and accumulation mechanisms in micro-nano pores, under the influence of organic-inorganic interaction, and the distribution, assessment and prediction of hydrocarbon resources.

Who Should Attend
