"The committee extends their condolences to the family of U Lynn Myint on his passing and wishes them strength during this difficult time".

Further Postponement of AAPG/EAGE 5th Myanmar Oil & Gas Conference

Due to ongoing restrictions due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the possible extension of company travel bans through to the end of the year, a further postponement of AAPG/EAGE 5th Myanmar Oil & Gas Conference is deemed to be a reasonable precaution.

We are fortunate to have excellent confirmed sponsors and presenters for the conference and the organising committee is very encouraged by the quality of the papers that have been approved for the conference. To dilute these presentations by continuing with the conference in October 2020 would seriously impact the quality of the event. A survey of the presenters has shown that they prefer to have the event postponed into 2021 and the meeting should be face to face and not virtual. As such, the new dates will be 4-6 May 2021 (Tuesday-Thursday). The presenters are agreeable to update their talks as deemed necessary.

Together with our affiliate society, the Myanmar Geosciences Society, we hope that this deferment of the conference will not materially affect you or your company and we look forward to your ongoing support for the conference.

We look forward to seeing you in May 2021 in Yangon. Meanwhile, we hope that everyone continues to stay safe.

Peter Grant, Convenor
On behalf of AAPG and EAGE

Continuing on from our highly successful fourth geological conference in November 2018, AAPG and EAGE have great pleasure in organizing a fifth conference in Yangon, 4-6 May 2021. This conference will provide the opportunity to understand the significant progress made over the last 24 months and network and share experiences with colleagues.
