Associate Professor Bruce Ainsworth from the Australian School of Petroleum, University of Adelaide was this year’s AAPG Regional Distinguished Lecturer. His talk focussed on the prediction of reservoir compartmentalization in marginal marine deposits.
The voting for the AAPG Asia Pacific region officer was closed on Friday, 11 July, 2008. The new officers name have been announced on 15 July for 3 years term, from 15 July 2008 to 30 June 2011.
Borneo Deltas: Challenging the Models (and implications for deltaic reservoirs in SE Asia)
S. Tariq Hasany visited Department of Geology, Federal Urdu University of Science and Technology (FUUST) Karachi, Pakistan on Saturday, August 9, 2008. He gave two topics, “Petroleum System and Processes” and “Career in Petroleum Geosciences”. The participants in both lectures were about 60 (58 students and 2 faculty members).
UNSRI Student Chapter is one of twelve Student Chapters in Indonesia and all activities sponsored by AAPG. This report will present our activities from January to June 2008 and the latest conditions of UNSRI Student Chapter.
Christian J. Heine had three pre-arranged visits while he was in Beijing on July 6th – 11th. He visited The China University of Geosciences (over 50 attendees) on Monday the 7th and The China University of Petroleum (around ~100 attendees) on the 10th. Sinopec Research Institute (40 invited guests) was visited on the 10th.
Indonesian Student Chapter of AAPG participated in IPA 32nd Convention and Exhibition. Every SC had to send their poster activity to be displayed in AAPG booth. There were eleven posters, except UNHAS SC and UNSRI SC of AAPG. One poster was from University of Malaya SC as guest SC from Malaysia.
The SPWLA 2008 Joint SE Asia / Japan / Australia Petrophysical Conference will be for technology presentation and open discussion on the Characterization of Reservoirs encountered in the region, extending from Japan to Australia.
AAPG SC in Curtin University, Perth, Western Australia organized a Student Careers Evening.
UNPAD SC of AAPG had just conducted an International Distinguished Lecture with Mr. Peter J McCabe. There were to topics which he presented. We conducted this activity together with ITB SC of AAPG, at Faculty of Geology, University of Padjadjaran.
