Structural Geology and Our Future - The Role of Tectonic Geoscience in Energy Transition, Focusing on the Asia-Pacific Region GTW– Event Review

AAPG recently held its first hybrid workshop on ‘Structural Geology and Our Future - The Role of Tectonic Geoscience in Energy Transition, Focusing on the Asia-Pacific Region’ which took place from 6 -7 July 2022 at Club York Sydney and Online. The workshop attracted 71 attendees (38 in-person and 33 virtually) from 42 different companies and 14 different countries.

On the morning of 6 July, the workshop opened with an Aboriginal ‘Welcome to Country’ address , followed by a opening keynote delivered by Andre A. Coffa, Director, URO Corporation, Australia. The two-day workshop also included 30 oral presentations, 2 virtual on demand poster presentations, and a panel discussion to conclude the event on 7 July.

 The program covered the below topics:

  • Metals, Mining and Energy Transition
  • Technology Supporting Exploration
  • Sequestration and Geostorage
  • Geodynamics and Regional and Plate Tectonics
  • Folds and Thrust Belts

Additionally, the event was live streamed and recorded, with videos now available on demand on the workshop website accessible only by registered attendees for up to 2 months.
