Tulsa, Oklahoma (18 November 2011) — The American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) 2012 International Conference & Exhibition (ICE) in Singapore has been rescheduled for 16-19 September 2012 at the Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Center.
The move is a result of SunTec Singapore International Convention & Exhibition Center announcing major renovations during the time originally scheduled.
AAPG ICE General Chair Richard Lorentz said the change presents additional opportunities for attendees. “The Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Center is an excellent venue for a world-class meeting like ICE. It is Singapore’s largest exhibition and convention space, as well as its largest hotel,” he said.
Organizers said the new venue would not impact the groundwork they’ve set for a successful event.
“The dates and location may have changed, but preparations for ICE are in full swing,” said AAPG Asia Pacific Region President Peter Baillie, who is also Co-Vice Chair for 2012 ICE. “Our committee has been meeting for months and delegates can expect a premier technical program in any case.”
Abstracts are now being accepted for AAPG 2012 ICE, and the committee is assembling a lineup of field trips, short courses, luncheons and special sessions for the event. In addition, exhibition and sponsorship opportunities are being finalized and will be distributed in the coming weeks.
Conference organizers said the entertainment, convenience and amenities offered by Marina Bay Sands would be an incentive for attendees.
Co-Vice Chair Ian Dunderdale added, “Marina Bay Sands provides AAPG ICE 2012 Singapore with an iconic location and the latest in facilities for exhibitors and presenters. We have readily incorporated the venue into our plans and are looking forward to an excellent event for all participants.”
