AAPG recently held its first workshop in Namibia on ‘Hydrocarbon Potential in Namibia’ which took place from the 7th – 9th June 2022 at the Hilton Hotel, Windhoek. The workshop attracted 110 attendees from 43 different companies and 13 different countries. The three-day workshop also included 25 oral presentations, 5 poster presentations, and an invite only Students and Young Professionals Meet n Greet evening which was sponsored by Petrofund.
The Remaining Hydrocarbon Potential in Southern African Offshore Basins GTW took place from 11-13 April 2022 at the Westin Cape Town Hotel and attracted 87 attendees from 28 different companies and 6 different countries.

The upcoming AAPG Remaining Hydrocarbon Potential in Southern African Offshore Basins GTW scheduled to take place on 7-9 February 2022 in Cape Town, South Africa will provide a broad platform for presenting and discussing the understanding of the petroleum geology of Southern African Offshore Basins

The University of Western Cape AAPG Student Chapter received a truly enlightening Visiting Geoscientist (VG) Lecture delivered by AAPG Africa Region President-Elect Mr. Femi Esan. The lecture was themed around “Geoscience Careers - Opportunities, Threats and Challenges” and was attended by 28 faculty members including the Head of Department, HOD of the earth science department and other geoscience staff.
AAPG Africa Region celebrates the successful delivery of a book shipment to the University de Lubumbashi in the DRC. This shipment was sponsored fully by the AAPG foundation.
