From time to time the AAPG Research Committee selects a topic for critical examination. They will invite scientists from various disciplines (geology, geophysics, reservoir engineering, etc.) to discuss state-of-the-art concepts, methodologies, case histories, and future directions relating to this subject. The conference are held in informal settings with a maximum of 80-100 attendees.

One of the last remaining hydrocarbon exploration frontiers of the Gulf of México (GoM) “Super-Basin” is the Early Mesozoic and Paleozoic sedimentary section stratigraphically below the autochthonous Middle Jurassic Louann Salt and its equivalents. Join AAPG for presentations from both Industry and Academia on themes including the Potential of the Paleozoic of the circum-GoM Region.

A three day AAPG Hedberg conference of oral presentations with additional abstracts accommodated through poster sessions. A two-day field trip will be run after the meeting. The Austral Foreland Basin has magnificent outcrops of Tertiary hyperpycnal deposits exposed along kilometers of marine cliffs located in the northeast coast of Tierra del Fuego. The high quality exposures of hyperpycnal channels, channel-levee transitions and lobes will promote a very constructive discussion and critcism among the attendees.
